How to pronounce PARIS-CHIEN with a French accent

Was I crazy to call my first book Paris-Chien?

At the time I thought it would be clever to call the book PARIS-CHIEN, which literally means Paris Dog in French.

Why? Because the title sounds like the French word “Parisian” and the book is about an American expat dog who becomes a Parisian, or Paris-Chien.

I didn’t think through that this works only with a French pronunciation. If you say Paris-Chien as an English speaker it doesn’t sound at all like Parisian.

Click to hear how the two words sounds in French
Parisien, then Paris-Chien.
